When using barrel plug cutters the swarf should be cleared regularly by raising the drill press handle regularly, this avoids overstressing and potentially breaking the plug cutter. Drill down into the timber when cutting the plugs, but not through it, the best way then to release the plugs is to split the timber using a bandsaw or tablesaw. By doing this, the plugs fall away easily rather than prying them free of the timber blank, or cutter which can cause them damage.
Only for use in drill presses.
