Veritas Std Block Plane PMV-11® Steel Blade
Description
These planes feature tall side wings making them ideal for shooting, and finger grips in the sides improve control, just a part of why these block planers stand out from the rest. The combined blade advance and lateral adjust is the most sensitive, accurate adjustment mechanism available, and two guide screws prevent blade shifting.
The ductile cast iron body can take hard knocks, and the adjustable nosepiece does not extend past the body, so it cannot be driven into the blade if the plane is dropped. Machined to exacting standards, with milled sides and soles that are surface ground to a fine finish.
Included is a chatterfree 25° PM-V11 steel blade, on a 12° bed angle making it the ideal plane for end grain work. For working difficult wood, lapped 38° and 50° bevel blades are available.
For general-purpose work, the standard model is 1/8" taller than its low-angle sibling and has a 20° bed angle and a low-profile lever cap that fits the hand well.
Mechanically, it shares many of the same features as the low angle block plane; a combined blade advance and lateral adjustment, blade guide screws; an adjustable nosepiece, a 6" x 2" (152mm x 51mm) footprint and a 1/8" thick x 1-5/8" wide (3.2mm x 41mm) PM-V11 steel blade.
