Description

Butt chisels have traditionally been made wider and shorter than other chisels, such as bench chisels. The shorter blade gives better control, with these chisels a good choice for removing waste from joints such as mortises, and installing hinges.

The PM-V11 steel has good edge retention, will stay sharp longer and is easy to sharpen, making them the ideal choice for woodwork in the workshop or on the jobsite. A 2° micro-bevel is ground, with a final hone recommended.

The Maple handle has been torrefied, a heat treatment that stabilizes it, preventing any swelling and shrinkage. The handles are contoured to fit the hand, making using them for long periods possible.

The handle and blade are connected with a tang and a socket-like stainless steel ferrule that seats directly onto the shoulder of the blade, with flats on the tang to prevent the handle from rotating.
