Woodcut 16mm Replaceable Tip Bowl Gouge
Features a removable M2 HSS tip. The tip is triple tempered for extra long life (normal HSS is dual tempered). Another feature of this tool is that it remains relatively the same length throughout its life since the sharpening process does not wear down the base shaft. Also; the shaft is made of softer; more flexible material than HSS which means they are virtually unbreakable; unlike normal shafts that can break during a dig-in.
The tip is machined from M2 HSS solid bar, Heat Treated to 62 Rockwell and Triple Tempered.
Tips are removed by simply heating the tip with a butane torch. They are then pulled out and new tips can be cemented in using Loctite.
Shaft is 15.8mm in diameter
Flute is approx 10mm wide tip to tip.
