Description
Yes, a drill press can drill a square hole. Mortise and tenons have been used in woodwork for centuries, kit allows mortises to be cut quickly and easily to create this very strong joint.
A drill press and Chisel Mortise Kit drills square holes for mortise and tenon joints easily and quickly. The auger in the mortice chisels is positioned just below the tips of the chisel, and drills a hole with the square corners of the chisel then removed the rest of the timber creating a square hole.
To provide safety, the mortise kit comes with a clamping mechanism to securely hold the workpiece through the drilling proces
The quill is the non revolving part of the drill press directly above the drill chuck that this kit clamps on to.
This kit includes the following Chisels;
1/4 inch or 6.35 mm chisel (WMC-14)
3/8 inch or 9.5 mm chisel (WMC-38)
Kit does not include the Drill Press as pictured.
NOTE:
Warranty does not cover breakage of the cast iron collar due to overtightening.
This is a DIY setup. It does not replace using a proper Mortising Machine for commercial purposes.
